Either should be good, might as well save 10 bucks and get the MSI. The MSI has a tiny bit faster clock speed as well, but almost identical.

About the processor

My recommendations on processors are pretty much only buy intel i5 or i7 quads. AMD just aren’t as fast or efficient. the only thing they have going for them is price. AMD GFX cards are far closer to being on par with the competition, but their CPU’s are just not that great. If you do stay with AMD I would get the FX8320.

It says it’s compatible. You could also look at the FX6300, it is cheaper than the FX8320, but a little less future-proof. What processor do you have right now? The FX chips are getting a little old, I would imagine AMD will be releasing a 22nm chip soonish. the FX corresponds with the Sandy Bridge Intel chips, which are already two generations old at this point (Haswell and Ivy Bridge are both newer).

Well, my 970 killed my M5a97 mobo. So yeah, YMMV. My recommended processor is a FX 4350 Black Edition. Mine is sitting at 5GHz base block and 5.5GHz Turbo clock, and it can go higher. You’ll want to save up for a watercooler, though, if you want to go that high. Though you may be able to get one, since the processor is only $85. I’d recommend an H80i.

My last three cards have been Gigabyte, and I’ve been really happy with them. Compared to the EVGAs I had before, they are incredibly quiet. My rig is set up for silent running, and even running 2x 680s you couldn’t hear them unless they got too hot. And then, I just turned up the case fans a bit to help move some air through and everything quieted down again.

That is an AMD board, AMD uses a different socket set compared to Intel so if you were using an AMD cpu before chances are you can’t use an Intel one on that board.

I’ve tested the ASUS Strix, MSI Gaming and Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 cards and in my opinion, the better card is from MSI. It is quieter than the others, especially the ASUS card which is actually a bit noisy. If you are big on overclcoking, the Gigabyte cooler might be better, but i usually recommend the MSI card anyway.
